The Business Journals: Mass. activist investor pushes Facebook, Google to do more on 'fake news'

Arjuna Capital, an activist investment firm based in Massachusetts, has filed shareholder proposals with Facebook and Google pushing the tech giants to be more transparent about the problem of "fake news" in their networks.

The Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) proposal, filed Thursday, asks the social media company to write a report detailing the full scope of so-called fake news problem and its potential impact on "the democratic process, free speech, and a cohesive society," as well as the risk it represents to the company itself.
