Press Release: ARJUNA CAPITAL MANAGING PARTER TO BE HONORED BY MASSACHUSETTS WOMEN’S POLITICAL CAUCUS

Leading impact investor and gender pay shareholder activist Natasha Lamb of Boston-based Arjuna Capital to receive 2019 Abigail Adams Award at MWPC Ceremony.

Boston, October 3, 2019 – One of Boston’s most recognized financial professionals, Natasha Lamb, will be honored by the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus (MWPC) tonight at a ceremony to bestow honorees with the Abigail Adams Award and the Good Guys Award. The Abigail Adams Award is reserved for women who have demonstrated a firm commitment to advancing the political, economic and social rights for women; and the Good Guys Award for men who have worked in their personal, professional, and civic lives to achieve parity for women.

MWPC announced online that Natasha Lamb, MBA, Managing Partner & Co-Founder of Arjuna Capital, will receive this year’s Abigail Adams Award for her commitment to gender pay equity and for investing globally in women.  Lamb is a high profile investor advocate for gender pay equity, widely considered to be the foremost expert applying pressure on major US companies to level the playing field for women.

In 2019, Lamb led a broad-based median gender pay gap campaign on behalf of Arjuna’s investors, targeting 12 US banks, technology, and retail companies to disclose company-wide gender and minority wage data, including: Adobe, Amazon, Citi, Intel, Facebook, Google, Bank of New York Mellon, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, American Express, JPMorgan and Mastercard.

In 2016, Lamb received the Aiming High Award from Legal Momentum for pioneering a shareholder campaign on gender pay equity. She was named one of the 50 most influential global business people by Bloomberg Businessweek in 2017. And in 2018, to ‘The Badass 50: women who are changing the world” list by InStyle magazine. Her work to develop the first ever Gender Pay Scorecard (GPS) report for major corporations, examines gender and racial pay equity at 47 of the world’s largest corporations, and serves as a guide to navigate which companies are taking a leadership role on transparent disclosures in the US, UK, and globally. Her 2014 landmark negotiation with Exxon Mobil led to the company’s first public report on global warming and carbon asset risk.

Arjuna Capital Managing Partner Natasha Lamb said:  “I am honored to be selected for the Abigail Adams Award and to join an incredible group of past honorees spanning the last 3 decades.  I’d like to thank the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus.  I am proud that our work to close the gender pay gap is being recognized locally.  To date, my company, Arjuna Capital, has pressed 22 Fortune 500 companies to measure, disclose and commit to close their gender and racial pay gaps on an annual basis.  These companies represent the Big Banks of Wall Street, the Big Tech firms of Silicon Valley, and some of the country’s largest retailers.  They also employ nearly 3.5 million people, and over 1.5 million women whose salaries are now assessed and adjusted each year to ensure that discrimination is not a factor when determining their pay.  Our gender pay campaign continues to gain momentum.”
