Target received the first perfect score of A+ on the sixth annual iteration of the Racial and Gender Pay Scorecard, a ranking form compiled by investment management firm Arjuna Capital and shareholder advocacy group Proxy Impact that looked at data from 68 companies.

The retailer reported 100% racial and gender pay equity on both an adjusted and unadjusted median basis for 100% of its employee population, including all components of compensation — base, bonus, and equity, the analysis found.

The Racial & Gender Pay Scorecard assesses companies’ pay equity data against best-practice pay equity reporting standards, looking at both unadjusted median pay gaps, which assess how jobs are distributed by race and gender and which groups hold the high-paying jobs, and statistically adjusted gaps, which compare pay between minorities and non-minorities and men and women performing similar roles.
